It's Monday...again!

Yes, it's Monday again but not Mojo Monday...I'm saving last week's sketch..

I managed another graduation LO this weekend in between the Olympics and F1....

I used Little Yellow Bicycle "Love Letters" papers, chipboard stickers, ribbon and brad...then added some stitching (with beads) a handmade, stitched flower (the felt was free with Simply Homemade magazine) plus flowers from Manor House, Maya road and Prima. A TH token finishes it off..I used "E" (for excellence).

We had a great time on Friday evening...we had a mini street party and watched the opening ceremony outside on a big screen with some neighbours.
I loved it!
Especially the Industrial Revolution bit, where I was pleased to see Kenneth Branagh as Brunel, complete with cigar..I hate the airbrushing of History that seems compulsory these days.
I also managed to miss Paul McCartney which was a bonus from comments I've read!!

Mojo Monday (only three days late)

Whilst I'm enjoying having the boy at home my laptop keeps disappearing...into his room.....I've managed to get online this morning as he's still asleep.....

Anyhoo, here is my LO using the sketch from 16th July:

The papers are by Fabscraps, can't remember who made the birds (chipboard which I painted black, flowers and flourish are by Prima, a few pieces of candi and a title that was the last on a sheet of embellies and has been floating around for months. Oh, and a stick pin to which I added the red bead.

The History Boys...and a very late Tag Tuesday!

The theme for Tag Tuesday this week was "Sea Birds". Great, I thought ..I have some photos of gulls taken on a cross-channel ferry.
Background was prepared using some pages from an old French/English dictionary picked up in a charity shop  (well, I wasn't going to cut up any of mine!) and gesso. A title was cut from an old children's book, nautical ribbon was found in stash......only one problem, the photos had been lost from my laptop when it had its' "breakdown" last year.

Happily, on Thursday afternoon in Bristol, we saw some gulls eating abandoned ice cream...DH did the honours and I finished the tag last night....they obviously prefer ice cream to the insects and seeds they're supposed to find on land!

And now for the first of the graduation LOs.
I couldn't resist using the play/film title ...

Papers are by 7 Gypsies, flowers by Prima, butterflies by Petaloo, leaves from a bead shop, frame by Nestabilities, TH token and title cut using Sizzix "Man, Oh Man" dies.

More will follow.....in fact I'm thinking of making a mini album about the day.

A very proud moment!

Well done to the boy...you exceeded all our expectations through hard work and determination.
We are very, very proud of you.

And, yes, Virginia this will be appearing on a LO very soon!
I have lots of good photos.....including several for "The History Boys"...:)

It is Not Christmas!

Well ,obviously it's not Christmas....it's only July! But I bet I got your attention!! lol

This is the title of one of the challenges on Flying Unicorn - we had to use Christmas papers for a totally non-Christmas LO.

Fortunately I had lots of red, white and black papers (from Teresa Collins, My Mind's Eye and October Afternoon) which were perfect for my Man Utd pics.

Buttons and twine from stash, Maya Road flowers and a Fancy Pants clear alpha (coloured with a red marker) finished the LO.

And here's a sneak preview of the boy's b'day card:

Graphic 45 "A Proper Gentleman" papers again.

I will be delivering this by hand on Wednesday, the day of his b'day. We're taking him out to dinner and then staying overnight in Bristol as his graduation ceremony is at 10:30 Thursday morning.

Tag Tuesday

Another Tuesday, another tag...

The theme this week is "Swimming".....not something I know a lot about as I can't...swim that is.
Over the years people have tried to teach me but I can't stand water on my face and my breathing rate slows down..so I've never been able to float...:(

Having explained that here's my tag:

I kept it simple and used a sheet of Graphic 45 "On the Boardwalk" paper with a silver tag and ribbon from stash.

And today is my BIL's birthday:

More Graphic 45 papers...this time from the "A Proper Gentleman" collection.

I've come to the conclusion that the only way I'm ever going to use Graphic 45 papers is by cutting them up into bits....

Mojo Monday

Monday again...sigh..

Here's my take on the sketch from 2nd July:

This was for a "Movie Night" challenge on Flying Unicorn - the LO title had to be a quote from a film.
This one is from "Casablanca"....Rick to Ilse..."We'll always have Paris".

I used a variety of French themed papers from my stash, used postage stamps,a variety of flowers, embellies by K&CO and a Crafty Individuals acetate showing the Eiffel Tower.

My second entry has a quote from "Now Voyager":

"..don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars."

I used scraps (sadly all that remains..) of "Blue Awning" by K&CO,  buttons and pearls from stash,  chippies by Imaginarium and Kaisercraft  plus a pair of wings .

The image is one of my favourite paintings.."Night with Her Train of Stars".

It was only after doing the LOs that I realised both films are from 1942...obviously a good year for films!

And don't all faint....I've made a start on Christmas.....also for a challenge on Flying Unicorn........I'll show you the results in a few days...:)

Tag Tuesday

This week the theme is Seaside

I used a manilla tag covered with pebble paper then added a seagull picture from Crafty Individuals, some beads, a shell and an image from Paper Artsy called "Les Petits Pecheurs" (just wish I knew how to add accents).

As a bonus here's the card I made to congratulate the boy on getting his degree...

I managed to find some graduation bits and pieces in the craft shop in Bristol....all very "American". The photo is of him aged three. No comment from him but his girlfriend loved it!

Monday 2 July 2012

Mojo Monday - a double helping.

Two LOs for the price of one....

18th June:

The SS Great Britain as visited by DH and I in Bristol. The postcard is 3D but the effects are a bit lost in the photo.
I used the "Portobello Road" papers that came free with Creativity Magazine.
Gears cut with TH die from coke cans and coloured  with alcohol inks. Title cut with Sizzix "Mango Tango" alpha.
Made for a paper rolling challenge on Flying Unicorn

25th June:

A vintage postcard that I picked up at a flea market in Buckingham.
This was for a "Countdown to Summer" challenge on Flying Unicorn...we had a "shopping list" of items to use  from 10 homemade flowers to 1 picture.
It took me four evenings to build it up but I had fun and used stamps and punches that rarely see the light of day!

I've almost finished the 2nd July LO......OK, it was posted yesterday as there's a 24 Hour Blog Hop on Flying Unicorn today.......a Vagabond machine is the grand prize!!

Sunday 1 July 2012

Penny's ATC Challenge - June

Can't believe it's July already!
I've been working on this challenge for a couple of weeks now....but all my image transfers failed..miserably...so in the end I gave up and did this instead:

Picture is my mother in her late teens. Background from Dezinaworld.

And, yes, her name was June and yesterday would have been her 81st birthday.
I can't believe it's almost ten years since she died.

Apologies for a clear lack of blog hopping on my part.....I promise to catch up this week.
