Tag Tuesday

The theme for this week is "Books".

I chose a book that has been a favourite of mine since I was about 10, "Pied Piper" by Nevil Shute.

Set in WW2 it tells the story of an Englishman (middle-aged as I remember it) trapped in France by the German invasion. As he journeys through France to the coast (and a boat home) he's joined by various abandoned/orphaned children - hence the title.

I've lost track of how often I've read and re-read this. The original copy belonged to my parents. I know I bought my own copy...but can't find it..so downloaded it to my Kindle...time for a re-read methinks.

And here is my other crafty work for the weekend - yes, the jigsaw has now taken over the whole of my craft table - thankfully it's almost finished...I may even do some myself to speed the process up!!

The pictures are from our outing to Henley last Thursday.
Patterned papers by Martha Stewart.
Die cuts by SEI
Title and border of ducks were cut on Cricut using "Don Juan" and  "Nate's ABCs".

It's my turn to choose where we go this week but I can't think of anywhere....any suggestions?

Penny's ATC Challenge - February

Oops! Almost forgot to post these  and had a devil of job finding them on the computer. I was too efficient and made (and uploaded) them in January..so searching through February folders was pointless...:(

I went with "Hearts and Flowers" for my theme and used up odds and ends from my stash...I even cut into a Tim Holtz paper pad for the background on one...

Off now to link up with Penny... and to think of a theme for March...

Tag Tuesday

The theme this week was poetry and prose.
I made a double tag using images and a transparency from Crafty Individuals plus an old postage stamp and odds and ends from stash.
The poem printed out on the second tag is "Warning" by Jenny Joseph - one of my favourites.
The first line reads..."When I am an old woman I shall wear purple..."

 I often wear purple....

Next is a heritage LO I made on Sunday at A Maze of Memories. I had a lovely afternoon catching up with Pat and Jan. It was also wonderful to have space to craft...the jigsaw is taking over the whole table at home now!
Photos are of DH's grandparents. The journalling is incomplete as I need to find out his grandmother's details.
Lace is from stash and all other products are from "Generations" kit by Club Scrap - this was my very first kit back in 2008.

My Crafting Week

As I'm low on photos I've been waiting for challenges before getting creative...cue thumb twiddling...
it also doesn't help that my craft mat is half on and half off the table....I'm sharing with DH at the moment and the latest jigsaw is a 1500 piece monster...my glues and ink pads keep ending up on the floor too.

So, the plan is that I'm going up to A Maze of Memories tomorrow as Pat is working there.....I'm going to crop.
I should have two challenges by then (a sketch and one already posted, calling for a b&w or sepia photo) and I know I have two cards to make.

This LO of my great-nephew @ age one (he's now seven) was for a "1 2 3 4 5" challenge. Papers are by  Best Creations.

#2 is for a colour challenge and is  photo of DH, his sister and father from 1962. I used Adorn It "Family Heritage" collection papers. The journalling is incomplete as I need to check some facts with SIL.

#3 is last Saturday's sketch challenge and shows Max in the pitiful amount of snow we had last week. I used papers from the kit that I won in the blog draw.

No interest in football this weekend as we're out of the FA Cup....the perfect crafting weekend!

Tag Tuesday (aka Valentine's Day)

This week's theme is Valentine's Day - now there's a surprise!
White tag covered in hearts cut from the same papers as last week then gessoed. Images are from a sheet of scraps. Hearts are a button, a silver charm and a mobile phone charm (from a cracker). Lace and bow from stash. Finally I went a bit OTT with red paper roses.

And here's the card I made for DH:

Image and background paper are from Dezinaworld, bow and hearts from stash, sentiment is a DCWV rub-on.

He didn't get me a card..since I'm on a total "no spend" regime I asked for some books for my Kindle..:)

Scrap! Club

Last Wednesday Pat and I went to A Maze of Memories for February Scrap Club.
The theme this month was "Fun Doodling".
Pat doesn't need lessons in this as she's turned doodling into an art form (she says it's the result of too many boring meetings!) but I appreciated the chance to practice.

Here's my LO with a series of 6 (cropped) pictures of DH and the boy paragliding in Tunisia some years ago.

The optional challenge for the month is to create another doodled LO. I started mine yesterday and finished it this afternoon:

A photo of me and the boy at Disney Florida..such happy memories..:)

I've also made three of my tags for Feb's Tag Tuesday...:). Making the most of my mojo!! lol

Bring in the New Crop (warning...lots of pictures!).

I spent last weekend happily scrapping....my mojo has returned (after a kickstart from the WeScrap January challenges) and the crop not only let me indulge myself it also pushed me to use stash that I never thought I would. Most of the challenges were on the theme old/new...either documenting s'thing new in your life or using old/new stash.

On FB I'm a sucker for "Big Box"/"Santa's Stocking" sales. Great value but sometimes papers etc. that I'm not sure of or wary of using. The stash ban I'm on (someone totalled up just how much I'd spent on crafting last year.....eek!!) means that I'm having to use old stuff.....happily I had just the right papers for 8 of the challenges.....could have done more but ran out of suitable photos.

So without further ado....

Two LOs about our win in the Pub quiz last week (one for me, one for Audrey).
First one uses Sassafrass Lass papers and the second a Basic Grey "Out of Print" page kit.

Next is a LO about Penny's ATC Challenge using Girl's Paperie products from the WeScrap April 2011 "Whimsy" kit.

Next up is Nathan, the fifth member of the Quiz team. This was a colour challenge (kraft/teal/mustard) and I used Sassafrass Lass papers again.

These two (for two separate but similar challenges) had me turning my craft area upside down..I knew I had some docrafts "Oriental" papers, but where were they? I finally found them at the bottom of one of my paper units. The co-ordinating brads and eyelets were much easier to find! I also used my new TH "Butterflight" die. The images are from the Samurai exhibition we visited in Aylesbury.
And here's where DH helped....I knew there was a font called "Samurai" but didn't have it on my laptop. I managed to find and download it but could I get it into Word to use it for my title? No. DH kindly downloaded it to his PC and printed it for me. It's printed on Washi paper that has been in my stash for years.
This was for a scraplift challenge and I used Club Scrap "Scholarship" papers and Pink Paislee "Old School" embellishments.

And finally..a before and after challenge using BG "Out of Print" papers, chipboard, glazed brads and layered stickers.

If you've reached here....well done....and you deserve a coffee!!
