Twisted Sketches # 143

Time for another sketch which I had great fun using.
The twist this time was "Wish"....although it's not clear, the blue strip towards the bottom of the paper says "Wish upon a star".

I used Pink Paislee "Butterfly Garden" papers,rub-ons and baubles.
Flowers are by Prima, Maya Road, Petaloo and odd ones from stash..including an arrangement I picked up in France that was meant to be used on wedding favours.....it seemed appropriate.

Photo is from 1997, the wedding of my friend's daughter in Le Mans.

I'm also entering it in a French Inspired challenge....:)

Mojo Monday

This was made using last week's sketch from Flying Unicorn.

Photo is of DH around 1965 and I finally broke into my Basic Grey "Oliver" collection for the patterned papers, paper clip, alpha and journalling spots.
Flowers are Sassafrass Lass.
I also managed to do some stitching using Bazzill templates - I thoroughly enjoyed that as it's a while since I did any and I do find it relaxing.

I've also altered a little wooden box but can't show it yet as it's a b'day present.

There'll be no Tag Tuesday this week or next week as the theme for both is Easter......I don't do Easter.

A Blog Award

I was given this award by the lovely Maria.

The idea of this one is promote small blogs, less than 200 followers, and pass it to 5 other small blogs.

The rules are:

1. link the award back to person who gave it to you
2. Pass it to 5 small blogers
3. leave comments on their blogs
4. Liebster in German means dearest

After much thought and deliberation.......the chosen blogs are...drum roll please..

Celtic House - Virginia

Fiddlesnips - Joanna

The Hen House - Penny

Whoopidooings - Carmen

In all honesty there are several more blogs that I would have included had I been allowed.....

Thanks Maria!!

Tag Tuesday (and Mojo Monday)

This week's theme is Goosey:

I coloured a white tag with Stormy Skies and Faded Jeans distress inks.
The background picture and nursery rhyme are from an alphabet book I found in a second hand bookshop last week. Although printed in 1979 the alphabet and illustrations date from 1916 - which you can tell by looking at "J" - for jetty and jessamine...
Buttons, ribbon and metal bird are from my stash.
The large goose has been cut from one of our Henley photos - it's an Egyptian Goose.

Mojo Monday is a sketch/inspiration  resource on Flying Unicorn a site I've just discovered.
This is last week's sketch (I'm working on yesterday's)

Back an hour later...just been for my regular blood test...and yes, I do still have blood..:)

Made using Basic Grey "Marjolaine" papers, stickers, chip stickers and alpha. Other embellies are by Prima and S.E.I. The photos are yet more from our day out in Henley....can you tell we really, really enjoyed our afternoon there?!!!

One good thing about the enforced  "stash diet" is that I'm actually using papers that have hitherto only been stroked and drooled over. I'm working my way through Basic Grey but still haven't dared to use my Graphic 45 collections...lol!

And finally...a second ATC for Penny's challenge..a traditional one this time..

I found these  lovely vintage images on Sweetly Scrapped via Pinterest. Simply added some lace from stash and a K&CO metal embellie ("Madeleine" collection.....yet more papers I've hardly used!).

Hope you're all having a good week...I'm off to have a coffee and do some stitching on a LO before tackling the ironing.....3 days the empty basket lasted....not nearly long enough for my liking...:(

Twisted Sketches # 142

Since WeScrap seems to be dying a death I've been blog hopping to find new sources of challenges.

Through a Canadian friend (thanks Lee-Anne!) I came across the "Twisted Sketches" site and decided to try this week's challenge.

A lovely sketch to work with....and the twist was "green":

The photo of the swan is from our recent trip to Henley.
I used Heidi Grace (for Fiskars) "Moonlight Meadow" papers - these papers are from 2007....yay for using old stash!!!
The embellies are from various sources..American Crafts, Sassafrass Lass (title is one of their alphas), K&CO.....some I just found randomly...whilst making a mess!

No Tag Wednesday

No tag from me this week I'm afraid....had lots of ideas and pictures but nothing worked..after wasting two tags I gave up...:(

Instead I have a LO to share.
The sketch is from Scrapology.

The title doesn't show up well in the photo but it's "Indian Summer" (an SEI alpha).
The photo is of DH's father and aunt (we hope!! details are sketchy) in Vizagapatam, India c. 1918.
The shaped paper is by Kaisercraft, "Sweet Nothings" as are the paper embellies (fussy cut from another sheet and mounted on foam pads).
Buttons from stash.
Flowers are Prima, Maya Road, Petaloo and the three blue silk ones are from my wedding bouquet....

I have some hot dates this week..with vampires.
"Breaking Dawn" DVD  has been in my paws since Saturday...sigh... and Amazon have sent off the next book in the "Black Dagger Brotherhood" series..it should be with me tomorrow....more sighs.

Penny's ATC Challenge - March

This month I've gone for something a little bit different and have made a "chunky" ATC.

I picked up a couple of ATC sized canvases (complete with stands) at The Works in Banbury last week.
I primed the canvas with gesso and then used acrylic paints for the sky and the grass.
The lambs were in a bag of baby boy embellishments and the bird and branch are eyelets.
I used raffia for the stalk and leaves and then a daffodil head from a MacMillan Nurses badge.
The title "March" came from "Home Words" 1883-84.

I'm still not getting much PC time so apologies if I haven't visited your blog recently and for the absence of Rocking posts.
Hopefully normal service will resume soon.

Tag Tuesday

The theme for this week is..."Birds"

I was going to use some of the photos I took at Henley but I found an old Daily Mail children's annual (in a charity shop) that just happened to have a photo heavy article on "Birds and their Nests". This is what I came up with:

I covered a 7 Gypsies "naked pocket" in Martha Stewart paper and then fussy cut the chaffinch from another sheet. The title was cut from the annual.
I stamped the tag with a TH bird in sepia and some delicate grass stems in green, then pasted on the pics of a chaffinch and its' nest. The back of the tag features a song thrush (but no stamping).

I had some cards to make at the weekend - can only show one at the moment:

Papers are from scraps of "Addison" by K&CO...all my lovely blue papers are running out!! "Sketchy Lady" is by Clarity Stamps, coloured with promarkers, and the bow is from my stash.

I missed Scrap Club on Saturday but did manage a LO at home:

I used BG "Curio" papers and embellishments plus some old buttons from my Mum's button box. The title is all about DH's "R & R" after his heart attack - the monster jigsaw that took over the table is in the middle photo!! lol
I'm pleased to say that it has ...gone!! Another jigsaw has been done and that too has...gone!!! Table clear for crafting....yay!!
